its core connecting premise (it seems to be a series of connected mostly-standalone novels, so more episodic than continuous) is that at least one main character in every book is a member of a secret government agency of paranormal crime fighters who are all at least mildly psychic

also it's apparently considered paranormal romance and every book synopsis I've read so far involves male-female MC teams
