hey everyone guess whose dnd got cancelled and my bff convinced me to binge all of (so far) trigun stampede in an evening

it lost me a little in the second half but boy oh BOY episode 11 is everything that is my jam

oh boy

the dub of these last couple episodes is gonna be fucking awesome

I did really need to hang out with actual friend person too like. that needed to happen. but she began to describe trigun, bc I wasn't interested since I'd never seen or read the original, didn't really know anything about it, and was weirded out by the 3d animation style from the trailers

SIKE the animation fucking RULES from moment one

but she did barebones describing and my eyes got huge and she went I really think you would like it and she was correct

my idiot ass over here just thinking it was like cowboy bebop but different all this time

So Stampede is REAL different from the 1998 Trigun adaptation - manga wasn't nearly done when they started adapting it - but I think you may like both

Stampede takes a swan dive into the deep lore, but OG Trigun gives characters and development a lot more screen time

a good time regardless

anyway god I have no fucking idea what happened in that finale episode but it also ruled

HEY THE DUB MADE SOME GOOD FUCKING TWEAKS TO THE DIALOGUE IN THE LAST EPISODE

I'm in pain!!!

actually first let's roll back cuz I watched the last couple of the dub in one fell swoop and first off dub roberto is a masterpiece no notes he's perfect

and like don't get me wrong sub is good as a whole and the dub is really mostly just taking the simulcast translation and tweaking it to say the same thing but in a different way

like "when did we become so different" is a very hardcore line that I do love. but I also absolutely adore--fuck I'm trying to find the actual dub quote but it starts with "who are you" and gets me
vash's explanation of running away but then coming back bc he's vash the stampede feels a little more coherent in the dub but I prefer sub nai's reaction to it

(I do not have the crunchiest of rolls myself so I haven't looked it up Elsewhere yet)

I'm torn on sub's very succinct "nai is dead; you killed him" and the dub's more loquacious "nai is long dead, but you should know that, because you're the one who killed him"

the dub's way of putting vash hearing meryl through rem (or rem through meryl) is also a better phrased line it's real good

ALSO "YOU NEED YOUR BROTHER" [SLASHES MEMORY REM'S HEAD OFF] IS FIRE but that's also bc I'm plantcest trash
