[RogueLARP] Btw, I wasn't there when the Culex fight started, was curious what people thought about me figuring out how to get a Discord bot to play music.

was this a music bot you built from scratch?

Yeah it came in pretty loud but everybody was vibing for the opening chords

Well it's a part of the bot. Getting it to stream from an Mp3 was a small bit of work but not the worst.

I just wanted it to be a cherry on top of the weekend

my guild in FF14 uses a music bot for playlists for our venue nights but we've had issues with it shutting off on us

so if I could drop a Wizardly creation upon them, I'd be happy to do so

Yeah that's cause it likely streams from YouTube or Spotify and those sites do all they can to break music bots.

If you build your own bot you can build a jukebox of mp3s that won't ever fail

That's part of why I did that on the bot, I was sure it would work as it didn't depend on another site.

To also answer the 'from scratch' question in more depth. I built the bot using free to use Discord bot libraries which make creating a standard bot that does typical discord stuff easy.

The stuff I did from scratch was all of the item inventory and 'location' commands
