because i like the idea of playing on the fact that marisa compared him to metatron
who was once a man who became an angel who became god
and he wanted to master dust and in the book especially he is obsessed with the idea that the angels envy mortals because angels desire flesh

and yeah stelmaria has to go in beast mode because 1. they have to be completely unrecognisable and 2. she isn't gone in the way someone's daemon is gone when they're severed but it's the opposite, like all the barriers between the two no longer exist

this is also activating my evangelion brain cell so the idea of becoming an amorphous soul soup is like yeah that makes sense
