Barry should've never been brought back to life, but it's astounding how selfishly he's depicted since his return and how much he's held up as a hero despite that.

and insisted mindzapping criminals to make them better people was for their own good

Yeah, but that's A: an invention of the modern era and B: still a really terrible story beat that I think everyone would like to just forget ever happened.

I think it's because people have the memories of the JL and JLU cartoons who by all rights were Wally and don't realize that most of the Flash goodwill actually comes from Wally not from Barry

There's an entire generation of fans who grew up only knowing Barry as the dead guy Wally looks up to.

But then you've got Geoff Johns and the other higher ups at DC who just cannot let go of the Silver Age.

not even the silver age, they were too young to grow up with that. they're clinging to the bronze age.

geoff johns was totally a member of Hal's Emerald Action Team back in the day
