A backlash so harsh that they very nearly put their entire new Falcom exclusivity deal into the hole, and most assuredly made it much harder to break even on that release, they had to just completely redo the entire localization. EVERY PART.

It's why Trails fans were evidently scared shitless before Cold Steel 3 actually came out, and y'know, understandable.

(Of an amusing note, Sean Chiplock actually liked his original performance better, because he was coming off a cold and gave his voice a distinctness he could not replicate once he was actually healthy months later.)
