[Life/stress/potential death of a family member] My maternal grandfather has hip replacement surgery tomorrow

He's... not in great health and hasn't been for a while. He has bad diabetes and doesn't get out much, he's had double bypass surgery and is famously stubborn about not listening to his doctors or taking health advice.

Its been made clear to me that there's a chance ge won't make it through surgery

We had a good Christmas together, and I called him today to say hi and check in- he hates talking on the phone and is very curt by nature so it was like. Two minutes

but I'm sort of wondering if that's the last conversation we'll have

and grappling with that is really fucking me up

like. I'm not sure what to think or feel other than that I'm worried.

I haven't lost a grandparent yet. Other family yes, but not grandparents
