There’s one BIG THING the Lord of the Rings movies fucked up that I will never forgive

And that is that the book “The Two Towers” ended a bit later in the story than the movie

It ends with Frodo having been “killed” by Shelob

And Sam having the Ring as he mentally prepares himself to continue the quest alone

And there’s a million reasons why the movies had that arc in Return of the King

Mainly about pacing

But when those movies were coming out I had a lot of friends who had never read the books

And I was giddy with anticipation

At the anguish they were going to have to go through with that cliffhanger of an ending

oh that would've been fun

I mean there's a lot that the movies changed. fellowship ended at a different place than the book did too. they completely cut out anything except a single look between eowyn and faramir. I adore the movies (they're some of my faves) but they changed so, so much

They also cut out the barrow wight and tom bombadil

and got rid of the scouring of the shire entirely
