I'm running a weekly game on Friday evenings (7PM EST) if anyone is interested. It's Candlekeep Mysteries and I'm running it with the new OneD&D Rules, but keeping it backwards compatible with 5th Edition. I had five players, but lost two of them before the first session.
I knew one player was gone but was unsure about the second... but seeing as they left the discord server without a word, I guess that means they're gone. I'll reach out to both of you later after work.
There's three different PDFs. So far the only updated classes are Rogues, Rangers, Bards, and Clerics. They've updated the backgrounds and revised all the races/species from the core Player's Handbook.
You don't need to read them super in depth if you don't want to, just be prepared that some mechanics and rules might be tweaked. But on the plus side, if you look in the Character Origins document, it shows you what free feat comes with your background.
On the plus side, I killed 2 of the 3 characters on our first session, because our fourth person didn't show up and we decided to play anyway. So it will be mostly an entirely new party starting at 2nd level.
They got stuck in a room with an Animated Bookshelf that grappled them and kept them from fleeing. The Sorcerer got 2 Saves and 3 Death Saves. The druid got three death saves in a row. It was horrifying to watch.
I don't have a high death count, but my first death was kind of amazing. Fighter got eaten by a monster and went to 0 HP in the bite attack. He lost one death save to stomach acid. Then roll a Nat 1 on his turn. A turn later, the monster was banished back to its own dimension (with the Fighter still inside!) due to a ritual spell an NPC was casting.
