but because he’s like 50 they had to explain to him what it meant and he said “what. that’s just a normal person” and then he bought a mug that says “proshipper” on it
I also am not susprised they decided to be friendly with a weathly white cismale show runner that wrote a problematic ship. Bc if Fuller was anything else, they would've swatted him and you know it.
yep. I think this came out of him liking some fan art of a hannigram blowjob? and antis were like "it's so creepy that you're liking fan art of people you know irl"
though these might also be two separate incidents that took place further apart. I wasn't in the fandom at the time. i just remember it crossing my timeline
he's not the only one this has happened to either, David Gaider, who was a lead writer for Dragon Age and has been openly gay in video game circles for over a decade, got called a pedophile and other slurs after watching seasons 1-7 of Voltron and expressing interest in Shiro and Keith kissing
these people are not fucking normal about tropes or ships they dislike and don't believe them when they say they are. normal people don't call others pedophiles over liking fictional couple or writing a thing that isn't real. like it's generally hard for them to get.
most anti's I know are some form of american, which you know... fits. their mindset is very cultural american protestant evangelical christian. and a lot of them refuse to admit it or/and don't know it.
Gaider's response to the harassment was honestly mildly hilarious in a dark way to me, but entirely expected, this dude was writing explicitly queer characters in video games all the way back in 09 at least, he's heard it all, and he mocked them
every now and then i think about when hannibal antis tried to get bryan fuller to publicly denounce proshippers
but because he’s like 50 they had to explain to him what it meant and he said “what. that’s just a normal person” and then he bought a mug that says “proshipper” on it
it's almost like it was never a content thing to begin with, it's about power over people like you.David Gaider on Twitter
