WindyCon: our dealerโs room opens at 12pm for set up! Also WindyCon: our registration room doesnโt open until noon! Me looking at my watch: 11:30am Also, Also WindyCon: weโre still trying to organize our staff.
Me as someone that runs cons: /how are you not organized enough to open before you offer dealerโs to set up...? Because technically we need a badge to get into the dealerโs room. ๐ค
My $150 advent calendar from Canada was just delivered. >.> Thankfully I have a friend who drives past my house on her way home and loves having an excuse to slide into my house without me home and love on my cat willing to put it inside for me. lmao
I was like, we're inside, it'll be fine to be barefoot with flipflops to get me to and from the dealer's room to the room... but we're legit the table next to the loading dock door.
also, if we're supposed to be set up because we're officially open at 3pm. can we say, well I guess you can't use the loading dock anymore. Maybe figure out how to get here on time, we've been open for set up for the last three hours.
The woman stopped by and was like ohh! I bought your book last year. I was hoping you'd have book two this year!

I told her we were rapid releasing two and three next year. And she bought two ada pins before continuing on her way!
The woman who bought the book last night brought her friend because she started it last night and is enjoying it enough she talked it up to her friend!
Mom and I are packing the room and throwing our clothes and non-shop needed things in the car because Dealer's room opens at 11am and stays open until 3pm - but we have to be checked out of the hotel room by 11am. So we live behind our table for the rest of the day.
listening to morning conversations, sounds like attendance is down. last year they hit around 700-800 people. This year, from what the staff are saying we barely hit 700 - and keep in mind that 700 includes the dealers hoping to sell, Guests of Honor that are brought in on the Con's expense, and Staff
It doesn't sound like a huge difference, but the energy is a little quieter this year, people aren't shopping this year, three dealers didn't show up - and they hold 8 tables between them so it's weird little holes in the dealer spacing. Normally people are bid happy in the art show - and at a glance, only a hand full of pieces sold

: I was talking to a few people and they felt like this year was just weird. There weren't as many workshops/panels to attend, people weren't really buying, etc. So it's not just mom and I that felt that way.
Mom and I are checked into the hotel! And this is my weekend plurk for all things con related today!

that's an amazing way to start the con!I DID NOT BRING A COAT WARM ENOUGH FOR THIS FUCKING DROP
I've almost made enough to cover table cost >.>
40 minutes after close of the dealerโs room, and the place is ghost town.
