Sun/moon dynamics always a+
ɴᴇᴜʀᴏᴍᴀɴᴄᴇʀ
actually this makes me want to straight up infodump about infel/nenesha, that's what we're going to do tonight
ɴᴇᴜʀᴏᴍᴀɴᴄᴇʀ
infel is the maiden of mio, translated into hymmnos as "LYAlyuma," or "the star of the people" - a role associated heavily with the stars, the moon, and the sea. she even has her lil moon headdress to highlight that: https://images.plurk.com/3wxREudhioN8qP0NJhT0OC.png
ɴᴇᴜʀᴏᴍᴀɴᴄᴇʀ
nenesha holds the complementary role of the maiden of homura, or LYAsiann - "the flame of the people" - a role in contrast very associated with fire and the sun. her color scheme reflects that, a lot of reds and pinks, as does her personality - much more outgoing and personable than infel
ɴᴇᴜʀᴏᴍᴀɴᴄᴇʀ
infel, prior to meeting nenesha and becoming the maiden of mio alongside her, had no "light" of her own - as in no higher purpose other than just to science things. she's an orphan, her only family is grammul (a scientist who raised her and does love her but.... does also intend to sacrifice her :|)
ɴᴇᴜʀᴏᴍᴀɴᴄᴇʀ
she developed a lot of brilliant technologies for no other reason than because she could and because it was interesting. no real moral compass or sense of belonging. but then she meets nenesha, with her pure-hearted desire to create a peaceful continent that their people could live on
ɴᴇᴜʀᴏᴍᴀɴᴄᴇʀ
and she falls in love with, to some extent, that ideal that nenesha holds - but largely with nenesha herself, and thus becomes a reflection of her "light." she works her ass off for nenesha's dream not because she actually gives a shit about the people, but specifically because she wants to make nenesha happy and live with her on the new continent
ɴᴇᴜʀᴏᴍᴀɴᴄᴇʀ
and when nenesha dies (ironically because the IPDs don't think infel's motivations are pure enough...), she loses hope in metafalica entirely and goes thru a kind of corruption arc where she's convinced that the only way to "save" the planet is to basically fuse everyone on it into an unthinking mass of borg consciousness
ɴᴇᴜʀᴏᴍᴀɴᴄᴇʀ
so she is, in the most blatant terms, the moon reflecting the light (hope) from the sun - not emitting it on her own, but shining because the sun is there to lend it her light
ɴᴇᴜʀᴏᴍᴀɴᴄᴇʀ
they're also a good example of a doomed relationship because well. nenesha dies but i love them very much https://images.plurk.com/7eBTcCtySnKHcjTBr7tUjW.png
