I guess high school would be Fleetwood Mac, Kate Bush, Dead Milkmen, Sugarcubes Lone Justice, with the Beatles bubbling under. The Beatles were more a middle-school thing for me.
Honestly I made this list looking through my tidal 90s playlist, so I might be missing something huge if I was listening to older stuff then, but I just don't remember!
I'll have to check it. WHFS Annapolis was a fantastic alternative station that was undone by the advent of grunge. I have their playlists from the early 90s.
There was a great local song called "Klingon Bastards" that was simply rehearsal recordings of a Shatner soundalike trying various phrasings of "You Klingon Bastards, you killed my son" against a sonic backdrop of a banjo hoedown.
