My character type:

For DWRPGs, usually book characters. Bonus points for weird powers or species.

I don't really know what other common elements are any more.

In TTRPGs I usually play some variation on tank or healer, and usually a weird species if given the option. (Current Saturday game is humans only. Thursday game is Legend of Zelda, and I'm playing a Goron warrior/smith.)
