the latest thing I have learned about myself way later in life than I'd have thought: I like repetitive tasks.

for some reason, I assumed I would hate them, but it turns out I love things like shelling beans, cracking acorns, making dumplings, etc.

I have avoided repetitive tasks up until this year because I thought I hated them. I have no idea.

like, seriously, I've avoided growing multiple crops because I thought I'd hate the repetitive task of processing them, only to find out its a very calming, lovely process that I could do all day
Zappy_snapps
wtf
Zappy_snapps
I think it may be because I was associating these tasks with busy work, which I still hate? maybe?
Zappy_snapps
me, screaming internally: embryonic I thought I knew about myself is a lie!

possibly. or possibly you were expecting yourself to be neurotypical, and NTs frequently hate repetative tasks like that
Hamlet 3.3.87
whereas those of us on the Spectrum frequently LOVE that shit
Zappy_snapps
you know, one of the reasons why I've never really given market gardening a go is because I thought I wouldn't like the repetitive-ness at scale
