I do love my mom and dad are so supportive of me trying to get my writing published. They've never been like "It's never gonna happen." They're just like "Work hard, don't quite your day job, and with a little bit of luck you can succeed."

Occasionally, the boomer mindset towards work is a good thing to have.

Mom read one of the horror/thriller stories and said it was good and creepy, which was definitely what I was going for. Kind of a Cthulhu-type feeling with the main villain.

yeah getting that support from people (especially parents) feels so special when u can get it.

and yeah working hard for what u want is what i was raised on lol. not a bad mindset to have in the arts tbh.
