I can't stand brown rice as just, like, rice, but I don't find it objectionable in a pilaf or a soup or something

if there's Other Flavors And Textures it's a nice source of variety. if I'm just putting a forkful of rice in my mouth it's bad.

yeah in my experience most "basic" rices (so brown and white, but not as much jasmine or basmati) are incredibly just... none texture none flavor

and then they get cold and the texture becomes horrendous

so they need to have some sort of other flavoring agent cooked with them to really stand alone

I learned to make a bowl of white rice in about 3 weeks. It took 6 months to make palatable brown rice, 3 years to make it tasty.

my mom suggests starting by making it with 3/4 white rice 1/4 brown rice until you're fine with that, then upping the ratio in amounts after that
