Are there any fandom/canon-based games about anymore? Better yet, are there any games where your characters get shape-shifted into a different appearance (a la My Little JamJar or that Redwall game that I saw IC checks for)?
It kinda seems like those went out of vogue awhile back. Understandable I guess since there's pressure to know the canon and I guess players these days mostly want to play their character as is but idk I got the nostalgia bug for them.
I'm in Victory Road, the Pokémon game. Non-human characters are turned human and all are depowered, and they can choose to become trainers, breeders, or Team Rocket members
aside from that...yeah, there are very few games opening to the public these days. a combination of drama fatigue and better ability to serve up plot in a smaller invite-only game
Yeah there’s VR, and I’m in one that’s check-in only called Kaisou. It has a cap for characters from their original universes, but you can also AU characters into the Kaisou setting
I’m at VR and the other one I’m becoming familiar with is Songerein which is a dreamscape game run by a former Empatheias mod, and has some thematic carryover, since iirc you were in Emp! So that might interest you
zoki.
Yeah, it definitely feels like the RP landscape has changed quite a bit. Not that it's bad or anything, it's just different, which is fine. Especially since we're all getting older lol.
toonish Oh I'd forgotten about Songrein too. I think I remember seeing that one when it first started and for some reason I thought it was Invite-Only/Private. It doesn't look like it is now or maybe it never was and I just mis-remembered. I did have a great time in Emp and kinda miss that vibe. X3
Sort of! There’s a mix of OU and AU characters, and the AU ones can regain memories of their alternate lives. There are a lot of supernatural elements to it too, and events that happen due to openings to different areas of the Spirit Realm
