Xiao Jedao and trust - it's definitely easier to earn than Lao Jedao's. But it's tricky to tell sometimes because his "go along until I figure this out" default as a baby amnesiac is such a foundational pattern
like...would he say he trusted Kujen in the beginning??? idk. he doesn't know. he had no other information sources. Kujen had to prove a number of things he didn't want to believe with archival footage. he considered that he might be lying but had no frame of reference to figure out how badly or about what
and one thing Xiao Jedao and Lao Jedao have in common is a default understanding that trust isn't, like, a primary metric? you can love someone and believe they'll do their best and their best will be pretty good and still not tell them important things because they don't Need to Know
and they also both have the converse thing where they will tell people they don't trust very vulnerable shit just to see what they do because there's some tactical reason to do so
like there's a lot of stuff Jedao would tell James just because he thinks James has a right to ask him, not because he necessarily believes James would never use it against him or spread it around
so people he would say he trusts are still not privy to a lot - like, he's as vulnerable with Hemiola as anyone, but some things it's easier to keep to himself and let them ramble on about shows
and if he feels he knows someone pretty well, he is almost always going to trust his own Crowned With Eyes intuition over like, the person themselves? Jedao trusts that he understands the kinds of things they will do, and makes choices accordingly
eiffel is gonou and jedao's pet golden retriever that you have to keep on a leash bc he's going to immediately run face-first into a pile of shit at the first opportunity
anyway all that to say Jedao really approaches things in a very granular way for trust, like "I trust that Gonou will keep his promises to me" but not necessarily "I trust that Gonou won't do anything I'd feel obligated to interfere with"
BUT despite all of that it is very easy to lose what little trust he extends, or to move from 'we have barely spoken' to 'i will trust you with nothing ever'
in low-stakes circumstances he can just roll with it. he assumes anything he can't get from context and tone with eiffel is probably not that important 95% of the time
he wears neutrals and pastels most of them time because he likes them, not because he's thinking about how he looks to others (other than in the context of being nonthreatening and easily overlooked)
"familial love is when people get cheat codes for hurting you thanks to being early-adopters and know where you started, and the difference between platonic and romantic love is whether you want to do dumb shit like bring them flowers"
the bit where Jedao is like "I wish there was a way to get Dhanneth chocolates even though we are a secret illegal fraternization on a warship" is simultaneously very cute and heartbreaking
but yeah Jedao does love Eiffel dearly as a friend and thinks pulling his hair and blowing his back out would be a great time but doesn't really care about holding his hand or going on a little boat ride together. SO
it's so fucking Jarring (Hilarious) coming into a thread about Jedao's opinions and seeing the almost obligatory "would rail Eiffel on request" comment
also there's a pure exposure factor. a non-trivial percentage of Eiffel's engine room video game wins can probably be attributed to Jedao zoning out fantasizing for a second
just to see what they dobecause there's some tactical reason to do sobut yeah Jedao would be extremely confused by the idea that extreme horniness is limited to romantic love, of course you could love your FWB!(I rarely play characters who actively try to avoid the truth, alas, but the events themselves are still such fun to watch!)
