i spent a good few hours brainstorming a Mana reward ability for her based on Pheromosa lore about how Pokemon that try to battle it become "awestruck by its presence" and suddenly lose the will to fight
she can fly, teleport, absorb life energy, turn people temporarily into bugs, temporarily hypnotize people, give people amnesia.....she can't lie, but that's not even a big tradeoff for her because despite her being a cunning manipulator, she also tends to be shockingly honest
anyway ngl one of the reasons I've got faerie on my list of potential swaps for fugo is cos there's a lot to play with both in terms of design & skillset!
ANYWAY my reason for thinking about this was because i was thinking about her wrangling animals during the event and how it would be convenient if she had an ability that could allow her to at least temporarily pacify any creatures that are feeling uhhhh murderous toward her
the hypnosis doesn't even have a "can only be used once per day" limitation like most other faerie abilities....the limitation is that it's only temporary
but that's enough for her to be like (laser beam eyes) YOU DO NOT WANT TO MURDER ME, YOU WANT TO CUDDLE at a raging tiger (if it works on humans AND monsters, why not animals too?)

to Pokemon, it seems like Ultra Beasts are basically monsters......iirc it was shown in this season that Pokemon don't understand Ultra Beast language and vice versa (Meowth is unable to translate their words for Team Rocket and Pikachu seems to attempt communicating with Poipole but can't 😂)
comes back in here to say that i went through the faerie FAQ again and need to share the question + answer combinations that made me laugh because there were several
there is something so funny about faeries having all these mystical abilities and then just. throwing a bunch of non-mystical glitter directly into your eyes

i have used her shrinking ability ONCE and clearly forgot it again because i didn't list it up there when i was listing all the wacky shit they can do. do you see what i mean about them being op they have SO MANY THINGS to keep track of

but yeah the multiple arm thing.....i spent a long time waffling on it because Lusamine has had multiple arms in canon so it seems appropriate but also her primary inspiration as a faerie is Pheromosa, which doesn't have extra arms....i eventually settled for giving her extra arms that are usually hidden (in her second mouth, like a Guzzlord)
