Gabiluzbad
something I appreciate about Lancer
Gabiluzbad
Is that the mechs are just mechs
Gabiluzbad
"Mobile suits?" nah "Arm Slaves?" nah "Aestivalis?" nah
Gabiluzbad
Just mechs
Gabiluzbad
call a spade a spade
Quinneapolis
might use a combination of that and SRW30's terminology
Quinneapolis
humanoid weapons built out of technology = mechs
Quinneapolis
weird unique esoteric magical superweapons = SRs
Gabiluzbad
solid
Gabiluzbad
Lancer is fairly realtype
oh i'm scary
oh I completely disagree there
oh i'm scary
I love mildy pretentious synonyms for mech
dragon time
Kamina calls Gundam Exia a Grendizer because he thinks it sounds cooler and Setsuna shoots him dead on the spot
Quinneapolis
to be clear, terms like mobile suit and aestvalis do exist in Q, "mech" is just the umbrella term
Gabiluzbad
I assumed
Gabiluzbad
that's what you meant
Love Snake Kaja
Ambrosia's canon (hey I just named the MC of my canon) definitely has SRs. Like, they kinda start out as mechs but evolve into definite SRs.
BattroidBattery
the idea of a bunch of megacorps actually calling all their products 'mechs' instead of slapping grandiose acronyms on them strikes me as incredibly unlikely
BattroidBattery
I guess battletech did it too
Gabiluzbad
I put down Harrison Armory as having a "long history"
Gabiluzbad
So it may be that HA predates a lot of other mech manufacturers
Gabiluzbad
Who gave them names like Mobile Suits or what have you specifically to differentiate themselves from the more well established HA lines
dragon time
there was a brief spate of copyright wars, literal wars,
dragon time
and everyone calls him generic mechs now
