I don’t think China is going to go into Taiwan. If it takes over the country, the whole world would be at risk. How are we going to build anything without semiconductors? It would be catastrophic—for China, as well.
I’m very bullish longer term. Semiconductors and semiconductor equipment are going to be the enablers of Web 3.0. The semiconductor cycle is going to be strong over the next five years,
specifically as we have more machine learning, artificial intelligence, autonomous driving, Web 3.0, the metaverse. All will require massive amounts of computation.
Shorter term, the cycle isn’t going to be pretty. But stocks are down 40% to 50%. How much is priced in? That’s why I’m holding on to Taiwan Semi and ASML Holding [ASML], which are near-monopolies.
