I just noticed that no matter gender you chose, Meta Messenger now will call you "they". It feels so weird seeing this. It might be trivial, but I still feel weird since I have personal connection to this man. I don't want to be called they, too. His and my genders aren't a mystery, we are not nonbinary either.
Yeah, the thing is my brain wired differently when speaking different languages, jadi "they" is incomparable to "dia". Terlebih lagi aku sendiri terbiasa pakai kata "they" untuk menyebut orang yang belum diketahui identitasnya. Melihat ini rasanya kayak identitas dihapus. I don't mind gender neutral whatever, tapi aku ngerasa kek nggak adil gitu.
I want him to stay him, I want me to stay her. I don't want to be them. I don't want him to be them. We are not genderless mystery waiting to be unfolded.
Ini persoalan pribadi sih, tapi jelas aku merasa aneh kalau melihat orang-orang yang aku kenal pribadi dan nggak identify as a "they" atau bukanlah suatu misteri dipaksa pakai they.
Tbh, perihal pronouns di chat begini memudahkan aku buat addressing strangers yang baru pertama chat tanpa kudu ngepoin profilnya, langsung tau harus nyebut gimana. Trus kalau they aku kudu nanya dulu kan sungkan banget nanya begituan. Tbh I hate "dia". Nggak suka yang ambigu-ambigu. Bikin susah juga pas nulis cerita.
It is deeply personal sih. Kalau emang platform pengen semacam balas dendam "haha kalian menikmati sistem yang lama pas kami merasa terpaksa, sekarang rasakan terpaksa menerima sistem baru, kita semua genderless blob!" I'll be kind of okay, but I'll still be annoyed about it.

: Yeah, ours are as intended. We didn't even touch the custom gender thing. I thought it only applied to anyone who chose "them" under the custom gender, so I was bemused.
