1984 is a very worthwhile read.

When I read it, 1984 was still in the future. It may be time to have another look.

I read it in '88, I think.

I read it in high school, so '84 was only recently passed. Read it again maybe 10 years back, when I discovered it and another book had merged in my memory (maybe We the Living by Ayn Rand).
