[Pokemon] Bouncing around the 'what combination of Young Wizards and Pokemon would I most enjoy writing' and
consider:
(now just general musing, though please feel free to interrupt with more poke-thoughts!)

Poke-AU, the Callahans save a family of Eevees and end up raising them. The Eevee siblings have a hard time choosing which human sibling to bother on a daily basis.

A 'vee for every occasion!

Including wizardry, of course. XD

That just also carries the 'so the Powers can be any Pokemon they wish, basically' baggage that makes it hard to RP in a mixed-AU setting.

I like playing Nita with the peridexis-as-Umbreon companion, but not so much a full team - and if she's not appropriately AU, most of her shenanigans are not normal battle-shenanigans, more like translation and healing, which feels like it'd be more fun ficcing than RPing for me, necessarily?

Army of Eevees would be fantastic with the Callahans in general

Either as fic or as RP

Consider: Her father has a Leafeon who has been with him since he was a child. Her mother has a Sylveon who was her dance partner up on stage, and who took to cooking and caring for their family with just as much joy as she did.

The Eevees that live with them are a combination of children of their parent’s Eevees along with several wild ones who have just sort of shown up and moved in because it’s a comfortable, welcoming place. Sometimes they move on, and sometimes new ones show up.

Sometimes Eeveelutions show up too, which would let Nita have peridexis-as-Umbreon around without anyone blinking much of an eyelash!

In terms of teams...it could be easier to just go for a feeling more like the Pokémon tv show, where people are more likely to have a few partner Pokemon without worrying about a balanced “team” or anything?

And the Powers could be more like Mew, in that they can change between whatever Pokemon they feel like being at the time, or that fits their current mission, all without anyone ever actually figuring it out until they flutter off

(Though in fairness, Saphroneth's interpretations of Pokemon canon are definitely fueling/informing my opinions on how a YW take of the pokemon 'verse would work, aheh.)

I also still have the 'does the peridexis have anything in common with the LP' fic bunny rolling around my head, so the LP deliberately choosing dark-colored and/or foxy pokemon to intimidate people amuses me.

Also: wizards are friends of Absols! They have much in common, especially in places that fear wizardry instead of assuming it just doesn't exist.

(I have a similar problem for both VR - pokegame - and Avalon - questing game; I don't really know what I'd do in the setting that isn't what someone/several someones are already doing, both in terms of similar powersets and similar personalities.)

(I also do not want to be in the proverbial way of other characters getting to do their thing, since I know if I don't have a niche to fill I can get everywhere, while still not necessarily enjoying it, just to figure out where my characters are most useful/enjoyed.)
