3. Anakin. This one took me a bit. He isn't real big on talking about canon-specific world stuff to other Sleepers (especially without being asked). But those things also inform how he views things like Sleeper self-determination
*Manabu. Vyng comes from a world where external factors constantly fuck with things like the gradients a compass tracks, or even the linearity of time itself. It's just how things are!
* Michael. the fact Trenchwood Farm (and the Raccoon Room) lost their founders throws a wrench in Vyng's original hypothesis that people with more community ties are less likely to leave
Okay. I think it'd be nice for Vyng to have a chance to help Obi-Wan in a way where Obi-Wan willingly puts himself out there, similar to how he helped Vyng live through his own trauma back in December
oh!! I was wondering about that and I totally forgot about it. if you want I can walk back my reply and we can still do that? sorry I didn't mean to handwave it it slipped my mind
MRS SEPHIROTH
: Are you sure? It sounded like you haven't been feeling June backthreads lately, which is totally understandable. I want it to be fun for you too
I've just been struggling with obi-wan because I went full speed in june so I'm slower with him atm so if you're fine with that, we can keep at it. I'm always down for backtags and I'm happy to work on a thread and I still really like this idea. but I'm also cool with waiting for a better time.
MRS SEPHIROTH
: Speed isn't an issue for me, I usually gel with our threads in a way where back tagging to high-heaven comes pretty easy. I just don't want it to feel like a chore or a creative drain for you while you get your mojo back, if that makes sense
ahh if that's the case, then I wouldn't worry! I wouldn't tackle it unless I was sure I was in the right zone for it so I can commit to the feelings given. Hence my slowness instead of rapid replies and sometimes meandering so I can get into a spot where I can extrapolate feelings naturally.
MRS SEPHIROTH
Of course! Glad to know you're still vibing with it. At the same time, I'm always open to punting or re-working things to accommodate people's headspaces
This'll be fun Autonomy and personal agency are important to Vyng, and I think an event where both parties actually have to consent (versus Pthumerian shenanigans forcing people into a boat until someone spills their guts) will actually bear a lot of significance to him
it's rare for Vyng to get CR where there's emotional vulnerability on both sides. He tends to be more of a counselor or caretaker. And once he ends up in that role, he becomes more reluctant to open up
yeah! because of age, experience and their behavior, they both have issues with true connection where they feel they can lean on someone naturally without automatically adopting that role or having that role thrust upon them
even with their closest friends and family, it seems like they both have trouble with those things. At the same time, it's not from this masochistic compulsion to deny their own needs in favor of burying themselves in other's problems. I think that's an unusual combo with characters, particularly in dwrp
yes exactly, it doesn't stem from a low self-esteem or like a deep seated desire to avoid uncomfortable topics. I think obi-wan is aware enough to tackle them when approached, I think he just sort of tables them in levels of importance?
I do think there's some self-esteem issues on Vyng's end, but it has less to do with avoiding uncomfortable emotion because they're uncomfortable....and probably more to do with maintaining a false sense of control? But I think that's one of those places where their different backgrounds becomes more apparent
(i.e. Obi-Wan's prior sense of belonging and purpose within the Order, contrasted with Vyng's troubled family life and his controlling father's conditional love)
it's a common fandom belief that people think obi-wan has low self-esteem or repressed emotionally, but I think he just sort of treats himself and his feelings more passively on account on what a rollercoaster life he has had
I'd say Obi-Wan likely has more overall self-awareness than Vyng. At the same time, Vyng is fully capable of sitting with his feelings and parsing through them when he has the space to do so
Vyng has shades of this because of his long-lived nature (he has an extremely high tolerance for absurdity and chaos, and is the type of person to weather a car crash he can't stop by simply falling limp)
It seems like Obi-Wan skews more toward observing his emotions and parsing through them in more intentional ways, where Vyng will absolutely grump and grouse and snap in the moment. But because he doesn't overly identify with those feelings, he can let them go once that moment is past
Where Vyng's mood outwardly and swiftly changes like this squall at sea, but then it dissipates when it needs to. But being raised by a druid, it makes sense because I imagine his mother emphasized change and adaptability first and foremost, and anything related to mindfulness was primarily in service to that
On one hand, you have dignified and composed Obi-Wan, whom Vyng looks at and is like "I know you're secretly a chaotic bastard". And then there's Vyng, who's this more emotive wildman with his exposed thorns, and yet Obi-Wan has seen how deep the well runs, and how still and introspective he can become
it's easy to think Tuck is running the show when they're together, but more of than not it's Vyng who's contentedly rolling along and letting everything happen. he'll dig in his heels if he feels like he needs to
hellooo would you like to handwave getting the shield tech from viktor or would you like to do a thread of it? i can make this one action if you'd like
10. Ryan. I headcanon that Vyng got into punk music because of Tuck. Before then, he mostly did folk and country music -- and even then, I think it was probably to make friends
Well, and there's something very satisfying about sitting down, doing a tagbomb and sending it out all at once, then clearing your entire inbox in one swoop
