The tayberry is a cultivated shrub in the genus Rubus of the family Rosaceae patented in 1979 as a cross between a blackberry and a red raspberry, and named after the River Tay in Scotland. The fruit is sweeter, much larger, and more aromatic than that of the loganberry, itself a blackberry and red raspberry cross.
All the berry crops have been late for us as well. I have not gone to the farmers market yet, but I do follow Hoffman Farms on FB and receive their crop report in email to know when things will be ready. Blackberries are just now available along with the others seen above. Strawberry season is almost done.
We still have lots of strawberries when usually they are only for a week. Raspberries JUST hit in the last couple days. No blackberries or blueberries yet. No veg to be found outside of leafy greens.

: This farm does not have cherries, so no idea. I am going the farmers market to see if I can find some. A friend picked up some last week but from a market on the other side of the river that I do not go to.
Our farmer's market stall was transparent that they brought in their cherries from the Okanagan valley because they likely won't get a good super local crop this year. They always label if they brought in their produce from a sister farm that is not as local.
I love cherries! We get a very short cherry season here. I got some last week. They’re all gone, I need to get more! Unfortunately I had no car today (getting a/c repaired) to go to the Friday market. Hopefully my grocery store still has some. I definitely need to go next Friday though.
