because it's brief i'll say first that i headcanon yujin's dad has passed away but they had a good relationship; i also headcanon he's the second eldest of either all sisters or maybe like, one brother
there are multiple versions of what he was and canon does not make it clear which is real. what is for sure is that he was a guy in his 20s from an island in micronesia called lospass who belonged to the sundance tribe, which had the practice of implanting a hyena's eye into a person's socket as ritual
possibly real: - he was a terrorist who targeted government officials - he was a vigilante who targeted criminals who fell through the cracks of the legal system by being rich/influential - he was an assassin for a government faction against other government factions - he was LITERALLY just some guy who got turned into a scapegoat (prob closest to the truth)
anyway it's this guy's personality profile that was programmed into kamui's head (and the heads of 1400ish other young boys, then 1400ish young girls) as a toddler and it's the source of his trauma & identity issues! thanks, suda
no idea on his biological father but i headcanon he's an orphan and following the conclusion of the shelter project he got adopted by some government employees who were in the know. his foster dad treated him very formally and a little coldly in particular
theyre born after nmh2 so he's probably what. like 31-32 when they're born? their names are hunter and jeane btw because travis only knows one female name apparently
he is a dad. he loves susato very very very very much and supports her endlessly and will do anything for her. but their relationship has a basis of sadness and distance they are both kind of constantly making up for and it makes me want to go crazy
im digging up this thing i wrote on tumblr about it but in my culture we have a lot of like overseas migrant worker / separated family baggage so i was pointing at his absentee father guilt like !!!!!!
if they could just not be proper about it and address it, it would be fine. in the meantime he's just constantly making amends to a daughter who thinks she needs to be the one making amends because she could never hold it against the father she loves when she REALLY SHOULD
