Man. You ever remember something that you're like, "Somebody should have thought that out better?"
Shards-giving
So. Some time back, there was a limted series called "X-Men: The End". It was when Marvel was going through a grimdark time, coming up with futures that...while they weren't terrible, were definitely 'off over there'.
Shards-giving
I've never read the whole thing, which was over about...three different limited series? Something like that.
Sharkleberry
I remember those.
Shards-giving
But one of the things the series is known for is actually giving up Remy's parentage.
Shards-giving
...In that he was created by Sinister, using both Sinister's DNA...And Scott Summers' DNA.
Sharkleberry
Gross.
Pinky Hood
.......... as if the Summers' family tree was a fucking hot mess already
Pinky Hood
wasn't*
Shards-giving
Which, given one of the favorite theories even to this day is that Remy is a Summers was...weird and terrible. Especially throwing Sinister in there.
Becky
I mean lbf sinister's creepy/gross with summers dna anyway
Shards-giving
(In the "Third Summers Brother" way. Not "weird cloned love child of Sinister and Scott".)
Shards-giving
Becky : You're not wrong. At all.
Shards-giving
Pinky Hood : Oh, it gets worse.
Pinky Hood
Oh god
Pinky Hood
I remember how creepy/gross Sinister was in the 90s animated series when it came the Summers
Becky
sinister: pretending to be a child to comfort scott from nightmares he gave him and crawling into scott's bed to do it, and also repeatedly playing with Scott's DNA
Shards-giving
So, anyway. Sinister had kidnapped Remy and Rogue's two kids (Olivier and Rebecca) and Scott and Emma's kids (Megan and...there were others but Megan's the important one to this story).
Shards-giving
Can't remember why. I'm pretty sure he had a job for Remy to do and, it being Sinister, Remy wouldn't have done it without being blackmailed.
Pinky Hood
Christ. Seriously, what is with the Summers that Marvel likes to keep going back to to make things so convoluted? Is it like with DC and the Waynes? Just add more?
Shards-giving
During this, he reveals how Remy was born. Kills Rogue. Remy kills Sinister with Mystique's help. Then has to leave Mystique with the kids while he goes to take Sinister's place in some deal with the Shi'ar, basically expecting never to return.
Shards-giving
Pinky Hood : At least most of the Waynes are adopted!
Pinky Hood
True! Less of a mess to keep track of
Shards-giving
Anyway. Some time later, Marvel does another couple of limiteds called GeNext. Which basically followed the kids of the X-Men as they sort of tried to prove that there was still a need in the world for the X-Men in general.
Shards-giving
Included in this group was Olivier LeBeau, going by Ollie (I think his codename was Wildcard and...that's probably the best codename you could ever give a kid of Remy and Rogue's, especially with Rogue's powerset as primary.)
PrincessBatty
simmering in emotions

Shards-giving
Just a little overview of the team.
Shards-giving
So, first series, it's mostly school stuff. Ollie's best friend is Becka Munroe, Ororo's kid from...some relationship in the Savage Land, apparently. Fine, whatever, it works.
Shards-giving
And from the first series, it kinda looks like the writers might be trying to set Ollie and Becka up.
Shards-giving
Which would have been fantastic.
Shards-giving
But by the end and through the second series, Ollie ends up with...Megan Summers.
Shards-giving
Scott and Emma's kid.
PrincessBatty
Sinsiter gets his hybrid?
Shards-giving
And I honestly keep having a moment of going, "Did...did none of you actually READ The End?" (Okay, I shouldn't actually say that because I've never actually read it, either.)
Pinky Hood
Sooo Summers family tree continues to sorta look like a bush?
Shards-giving
PrincessBatty : I guess?
Shards-giving
Pinky Hood : I don't think it looks like a bush, really. Though maybe it's just a really spiky one. But like...Ollie is technically Megan's nephew, even if neither of them know it.
PrincessBatty
I love the concept of the kids honestly. I mean I would have thought remy might have pushed for Henri as a middle name and Rogue would have pushed (until recently) Irene as a middle name for a son and daughter respectively.
Shards-giving
That's the headcanon I have, at least. That it's Olivier Henri and Rebecca Irene LeBeau.
Shards-giving
But I still just...There were obviously people who were NOT paying the least bit of attention when it comes to that storyline.
Shards-giving
Because there are IMPLICATIONS.
PrincessBatty
See, this is why you and I get on so lone because we see the characters similarly.
Shards-giving
Well, he wouldn't give his son Henri as a first name. Mostly because there's still Hank in their lives.
Shards-giving
On the other hand. The new Knights of X is grating on me a bit. I loved Excalibur. So why the fuck is Remy speaking in third person?
Shards-giving
Okay. He's started using I again. That's better.
