I think a lot of this stems from my younger cousin (who I do not like) also being a horse girl. And my best friend when I was in elementary who later was a huge a-hole was a horse girl. And my cousin's horse Megan being a huge asshole

I love horses, was a horse girl, was absolutely devastated when we moved and I found out the horse I used to ride had developed a bunch of behavioral issues in my absence and wasn't available for lessons anymore (because she was perfect when I rode her, she was sweet, would do silly tricks for gumdrops after I rode her...)

But also, some horses really are nightmares, and some people aren't horse people, just like not everyone likes dogs or cats or snakes. And shoving your aggressive horse in the face of someone who doesn't like horses isn't gonna get you anywhere. Not everyone is required to like them!

when I was little a donkey bit my arm and refused to let go until my grandmother intervened. And there was a pony named Bubba who bit me a couple times when I was doing chores at horse camp. Those teeth, man. (I still love horses, but I did not go near Bubba after that.)

my aunt and cousins are horse people, moved out to the middle of nowhere so they could keep multiples, and my one cousin still ended up with a concussion and years or mysterious nerve damage because one of their horses "turned its head too fast" while being groomed and knocked out a lifetime veteran of horse nonsense

yeah eldest got thrown while working on training a troublesome horse and is only alive because she had a damn good helmet that took the bring of the damage from the rock she got thrown onto head first

still got a concussion, fractured the orbit of her eye, has permanent nerve damage in her face, broke her foot (for probably the 4th time due to a horse), sprained her ankle, and had massive bruising all over her back, some in the shape of hoof prints from being run over

... and got back on the same horse bareback a little over a week later to prove to herself she could... without telling anyone, because she was supposed to take a full month off

lol yeah theres a number of racehorses or members of the bloodline who are so aggressive that they are almost impossible to ride but their granddaddy ran real fast so they try to breed them to some horse known for being gentle in the hopes of getting a fast horse who is not violently homicidal
