So in preparation for eventually apping Daniel to VR, I've done what I should've done ages ago, and that's give him a new account

scattered_rose was created in 2014, not long after Daniel himself honestly, and aside from the actual style of the username, the meaning itself no longer applies to Daniel since I play a different MUCH HAPPIER version now

Of course I look at the art in ALL his icons and I'm like

But there is no way I'm drawing anything remotely close to new icons for him, he looks relatively the same and my art's not significantly different enough for me to even want to redraw them, IT'S FINE XD

As for what it means, I was looking up rose symbolism, since they remain a motif of his even if for artifact reasons at this point and I found out about

Which, confidence and secrecy only barely applies to Daniel but it at least gave me a place to start

And since his visual motif is

I eventually hit on "shielded under the rose", which came out to be tuta rosa (which a literal translation is "safe rose" and given that shields and protection/protection others is a constant with him across AUs, still works)

...I did try "shield under the rose" but uh, the Latin word/a main Latin word? for shield is apparently scutum which um. Doesn't always read right at first glance so I went elsewhere

Anyway there's some vague type symbolism in the depths of the username as well, and as mentioned that's his whole deal anyway, so |D

As for VR, Daniel was of course my original plan, way back before any of my others were in the game. And I do still fully intend him to be in! ....I just. need to file off the serial numbers of some canon characters that appeared in the grander AU Daniel is a part of >> As well as summing up Daniel's whole thing and the Sentinels, which.

SO YEAH that's what I've been doing tonight XD My at-large VR tags I hope to get done, but some back pain that's put me down for a week has me generally wiped so we'll have to see how that goes |D

YES SAME. None of my other OCs have had the sheer staying power that Daniel has had, and with the icon and general journal refresh giving him a new one gives me, it oughta be a lot easier to keep him around now X3

(Because MAN, as many games as the old journal has been attached to, there are. quite a few posts around XD They're all hidden but still there to sort through for my end if/when I have to look for something)
