but basically, to start off with some background:

I consider myself to be a fairly left person, but I know that a lot of people on the internets out-left me by a lot

and I know that in certain circles, I'd just be another shitlib, or a Republican in disguise or one of those horrible centrists, because I only agree with them on 95% of of things instead of 100%

but on YT, I follow a lot of people who make videos that are on the left side of things (some of them officially belong to Lefttube, others don't)

but I find that watching a lot of their content lately just makes me exhausted and depressed

especially when there's such a huge amount of "This Thing You Like is Problematic and You're a Bad Person for Liking It."

and don't get me wrong, there is definitely room for critique in media. I enjoy it.

I am all for 2hr breakdowns of a show/movie/book/etc

but if a piece of media doesn't fit every box of the Blue Checkmark Folks, it's a complete failure, there are little to no redeeming qualities, and if you like it, shame on you

and another part that gets me about said Internet Discourse(TM) is that it almost seems more focused on "dunking" on people who are less left than people on the opposite end of the political spectrum

like disliking a piece of media because of "all the smug liberals that quote it" (which in my opinion, also seems kind of smug to talk about it that way)
