weh i'm liking Ayato's story a lot so far, but...

i'm also a little bummed and will always have salty regrets about Kokomi's story arc

I felt that she and Ayato were similar in a way, needing to have this like, public facing persona and then more of like, the 5d chess brain behind the scenes

but they did Kokomi so dirty.

as wondering if the bad writing would continue... but it looks like a lot of it stuck to that particular patch

so grats to Ayato

but... my Kokomi though ;_;

and like, even if they do put her in a future storyline where she's actually competent... that first impression was just so dogshit idk if there's any fixing or forgetting

they managed to do the equivalent of throwing a hail mary pass with Raiden's 2nd story quest, speaking as someone who actually liked her first one

so they could probably manage to salvage Kokomi, assuming they don't get screwed by more, ahem, external problems again

like, just the quality of whatever her writer though was a sharp tactical mind was... so dumb

and she just outright... overlooked and rewarded insubordination from those troops at the end.

Even if it was the hail mary, it still fell waaaay short

I meant liking raiden's 1st, I didn't like Kokomi's mostly

there were bits I liked

heavensblessing: oh i gotcha! I mean, yeah, i did like some bits. But the bad bits were oh so bad

it would have been easy to even justify those bad decisions in story too

like "being also being religious leader means sometimes having to make tactically bad decisions when keeping devotion is also a problem on the table"

or even explicitly "she made a Mistake bc she was exhausted from dealing with people in a job she isn't temperamentally suited for" which tbh is the angle I would probably take if trying to fix it in a later story quest

like also tactically speaking punishing them might have exacerbated the situ/alienating the people who do carry similar sentiments and she does know her men fairly well

another political angle is potentially that they were/are citizens of watatsumi so they consider themselves independent and sovereign separate from inazuma

so punishing them / firing them / etc might be damaging to [ watatsumi as a country ]
