Quinn Angstrom
[triangle] chapter 5

Quinn Angstrom
status: the titanic is sinking and Frani wants to write a strongly-worded letter to the iceberg

Doge-lover Joja
Frani be like that

Quinn Angstrom
oh look Frani is embezzling money from the mine that was just set on fire

AzureChrysanthemum
Frani makes good decisions!

Quinn Angstrom
I am tentatively assigning Narve the title of Son Boy

Quinn Angstrom
barkeep recruited

Quinn Angstrom
moving into combat, I have a broad tactical theory to test

Quinn Angstrom
and that theory is this:

Quinn Angstrom
buddy system

Quinn Angstrom
if people are alone, they're vulnerable to flanking maneuvers

Quinn Angstrom
if they're in groups of 3+, they're vulnerable to AOE spells

Quinn Angstrom
so, groups of 2

Quinn Angstrom
oh okay the enemy force just spawned nine guys, multiple of them acting immediately, in arrow range of Roland

Villain
the game is hard

Quinn Angstrom
I'm fine with that, and probably still winning this fight, just

Quinn Angstrom
I prefer obstacles that there is literally any way for me to anticipate

Quinn Angstrom
or react to

Villain
that's reasonable

Quinn Angstrom
GOD I built my entire turn around a Scorch cast that was perfectly assembled

Quinn Angstrom
and then

Quinn Angstrom
not enough TP

Quinn Angstrom
Roland falls back again

Quinn Angstrom
turn 70

Quinn Angstrom
set up to win the map on Roland's next turn with a Rush

Quinn Angstrom
not enough TP

Quinn Angstrom
why am I so fucking bad at TP management

Quinn Angstrom
"oh now I can use Now on Roland to try again with 1 more TP, map over"

Quinn Angstrom
his new position is too far from the exit

Quinn Angstrom
I could have cleared this map 30 turns ago

AzureChrysanthemum
Yeah the TP management takes some getting used to, it helps when you get higher promotes and people get some extra management abilities

AzureChrysanthemum
My favorite is Frederica getting a "+1 TP if you kill someone" because her kill condition is "she takes a turn and there's someone who's taken mild damage in range"

Quinn Angstrom
THERE christ

Quinn Angstrom
that was an annoying map

Quinn Angstrom
the combination of "you need to protect a specific unit" and "once any unit passes this point on the map multiple enemies appear within attack range of it and then act immediately" was some rough-ass map design

AzureChrysanthemum
That is the biggest thing Triangle Strategy is guilty of, the enemy reinforcements spawning in ways you had no way of anticipating

AzureChrysanthemum
I honestly tend to slow creep forward these days and play defensively

AzureChrysanthemum
Make them come to me

Quinn Angstrom
well

Quinn Angstrom
I guess Frani won't be making any further bad decisions

Doge-lover Joja
Hard to do that with all that blood coming out of the body

AzureChrysanthemum
He made one bad decision too many

Quinn Angstrom
hey, Frederica's situation has improved

Quinn Angstrom
now instead of people hating her because she's Rosellan, people hate her because she's from Aesfrost

Quinn Angstrom
seriously what the fuck was in that mine

Quinn Angstrom
I have a theory but the suspense

Quinn Angstrom
>Erador: "Hopefully we can make it through the city without those bastards noticing us"

Quinn Angstrom
>Erador opens gate

Quinn Angstrom
>0.1 seconds pass

Quinn Angstrom
>Aesfrosti soldiers: "THERE THEY ARE"

Quinn Angstrom
question

Quinn Angstrom
does increasing weapon potency on a mage make their spells hit harder

Quinn Angstrom
or just physical attacks

Villain
I think it increases their magic power

Quinn Angstrom
holy fuck

Quinn Angstrom
on the bridge battle

Quinn Angstrom
one of the enemy shieldbearers

Quinn Angstrom
knocked Ser Maxwell off the fucking bridge

Villain
oh god

Quinn Angstrom
88 fall damage

Villain
That guy's gonna be bragging for months

Villain
if he lives

Quinn Angstrom
he did

Quinn Angstrom
I gave Maxwell NO backup

Quinn Angstrom
and he did basically fine

Quinn Angstrom
well, I don't see Maxwell's body but surely he's dead
