I suspect while we are distracted with the Ukraine-Russia issue, China is watching closely and taking notes. The time will come when they will “reunify the Chinese people living in Taiwan”. No doubt with Russian support.

klz : no. Not yet. Taiwan still operates under its own government. China has been trying to force their trade partners to refer to Taiwan as China. But has limited success in doing so.

it's much harder for China to do that, as there isn't a gigantic land border to pile up personnel and materiel on. The US Navy is confident that as long as they maintain a significant Pacific presense China won't resort to armed conflict to regain Taiwan.

This is just the beginning with Russia and the Ukraine. We will end up with WWIII.
