True, I never considered it from that angle before. It really made me stop and think again of many war films that I have watched. Really, you can learn something new every day.
There's a documentary series on Netflix called "Five Came Back" about famous Hollywood directors who served as movie makers for the military, propaganda and the like. There's also a companion series where it's what they produced. The first one is about the Holocaust because Ike went "fuckers gonna deny this existed let's document the hell out of it"
the movie goes into detail what camp they were on and the state of the people who lived and died and showed uncensored video of the dead and what the survivors were suffering on. Also what the Americans did to the people who lived next to the camps and how they denied knowing about them. It's wild.
