[Arceus] Hey, quick question. Does save scumming a mass outbreak for shinies work, or no?

Two of the three unplanned shinies I have came out of mass outbreaks but idk if there are better odds or if it's just a matter of numbers

Once an outbreak you want happens, save in Jublife. Check for shinies, if no shiny, go back to jublife to make sure the outbreak is still there, save, rinse and repeat

If the shiny appears in the outbreak save immediately

I haven't had any luck with it, but I think that's more to do with patience and not being as invested in the swarms than them not working.

The saving method seems to work, it's just a matter of getting some luck or holding out long enough for a shiny to show up

I mean, what I have done is turn off autosave, save, go catch pokémon in the outbreak until I run out, and if a shiny doesn't spawn during that time I reset and try again

You get four pokémon in a cluster in an outbreak, but they keep spawning in when you catch/defeat one for a little while and the heightened shiny spawn chance works for those spawns until the outbreak is over

And I'm working on an Eevee outbreak right now

The shiny pokémon doesn't have to be among the first four spawned, at least not that I've observed

Ohhhh, I was trying that but didn't have any luck with it. Since the guides I read kept going back to town I was wondering if maybe the whole swarm might be predetermined since I kept getting a same level alpha when I was trying it that way

I did save back in Jubilife and I have autosave off so let's see what happens!

Apparently you're NOT supposed to save in Jubilife, but out in the field

(You're also not supposed to save after you get the "you discovered the reported pokémon" message, or the swarm will vanish when you reload)

From my testing, I did get the shiny Sneasel by reloading my field save, without going back to Jubilife...but I couldn't replicate it with Eevee

But the difference was that I saved some distance away from the swarm with Sneasel, but I was right on top of the Eevees when I saved there

So - both to avoid the mass outbreak discovery message and because it might affect the spawning somehow - I would say to save a little distance away from the swarm

(Note: I tried to spawn a shiny Eevee without returning to Jubilife multiple times, but I can't confirm if that was just Genuinely Not Working or if I just was unlucky and impatient)

I am doing the thing where I go to the field, come back to Jubilife, and go back out again, but no luck so far....

I don't know if I should be saving EVERY time I go back to Jubilife lmao, I'm resetting every time I return and then go back to the field and get no shiny

The worst part is I didn't even want a shiny of this Pokemon until I saw what colour it was

I have to assume going out and coming back and then going out again is doing SOMETHING because it does indeed sometimes despawn the swarm but I am not having any luck spawning an actual shiny yet. Which! I mean. Maths, probability, independent events, etc.

The guides I've read say that saving in Jubilife screws up your shiny chances...somehow

The way I've gotten it to work is either 1) not going back to Jubilife at all, but saving and reloading some distance from the swarm(this is the one time I got my shiny Sneasel, I haven't gotten this method to work again since), or 2) saving, catching a whole swarm, reloading and going back to Jubilife if no shiny appears, then going back and trying again

Either way, I recommend saving in the field, but not too close to the swarm

Normally shiny sneasel is hideous and I wasn't a huge fan of sneasler so I was like, whatever @ them in general but I HAPPENED to look the shiny versions up and I love them....
