day 4 of keto diet! still less joint pain, I have electrolyte pills coming on Thursday, and I tried scrambled eggs cooked in olive oil, which was actually more tasty than I was expecting
HeyItsHayley
If you can get ahold of it you should try avocado oil too!
Sarahndipity
I'll have to see if I can find some! I also need to buy actual avocados, strawberries and blueberries, and olives, because those are practically at the top of all the keto-safe foods lists I've been reading lately

Butter is good for keto, too - I prefer it because some sorts of olive oil isn't safe for cooking and I can't keep straight which it is. Oh, and let me give you a link to my main resource

Diet Doctor — Making Low Carb and Keto Simple
They have a sub, but you don't need it for everything they have so its useful.
Sarahndipity
oh thank you!

And most fruit is safe but you need to be careful on portions [like peaches, apples, oranges]
Sarahndipity
my stepbrother and my friend have both told me basically no fruit except berries
Sarahndipity
and they've both been doing keto for years
Fearyfox(Reyn)
Same, I've been doing it for about 5 now? Though now I do it more off and on, because I got my blood sugar and insulin under control.
Fearyfox(Reyn)
I am very careful with fruit portions though.
Fearyfox(Reyn)
If you look at that page, some fruit is bad, for keto
Fearyfox(Reyn)
Like pineapple, which sucks
Fearyfox(Reyn)
But what works for me, might not work for them, so its something you just try and see what it does. Like I miss my parsnips so much, but they are so high in sugar that even WWs doesn't count it as a free food, unlike every other veggie out there.
Sarahndipity
my stepbrother said turnips are safe too, which I wasn't expecting
Fearyfox(Reyn)
So, my philosophy is that most anything can be safe to eat, but realistically, the portions of safe on some things are so tiny that its not worth it.
Fearyfox(Reyn)
Like, it really comes down to high fat, moderate protein and very few non-fiber carbs.
Sarahndipity
right, like I could have a segment of an orange or a slice of banana, but I'd rather spend my carbs (I've been sticking to 20g a day) on things that help me meet my macros goals
Fearyfox(Reyn)
Actually, pretty sure you can have a whole small orange, but its been a while, I used to have a cutie a day when Covid first hit to help keep my Vitamin C levels up, with no issues. But again, we've all got different needs, and likes, and it makes us more interesting. But don't forget, fiber cancels non-fiber carbs and you do need the fiber for good health
Sarahndipity
yeah, my stepbrother told me to eat a lot of colorful vegetables to help with my fiber intake too
Sarahndipity
it's so much to remember
