[Frozen] honestly thinking about how Let It Go was the thing that made Frozen what it is

like not in the public box office-breaking sense

but in the sense that it was literally the thing that lead to finalizing what Frozen was about

up until they listened to Indina Menzel sing Let It Go for the first time, Elsa was still a villain letting go of her doubts and embracing villainy because that's what everyone's seen her as all her life

and then they heard the song and went

"....this is kinda uplifting actually"

yeah

"what if we ran with that"

uplifting and feeling more like someone being able to feel good about themselves for the first time in thirteen years

Before Elsa was a misunderstood shut-in struggling with mountains of anxiety and other Issues, she was Anna's sister who EVERYONE knew had magic and feared her for it

at a point she was going to be fed up with it all and just run off, only to return during Anna's wedding to freeze her husband and declare war with her army of snowlems

and Olaf, who she kept around because he was amusing

before that she was a vicious witch blanketing the land in snow who needed a kind mountain man to come and melt her frozen heart

before that she was a disney rennaisance-era villain with blue skin and a cloak of living minxes

you can see them, over the course of years, slowly encroaching on the right idea for Frozen

god i love the very first Snow Queen designs but. honestly. i like Frozen as it is.

the starting point and the end result are so different

I honestly love the concept of that coat

I love the Hans Christian tale, but yes, Frozen ended up as something Good
