like yes on one level it's to distract zenos but it doesn't seem like it'll be that effective???

the dude is singularly focused on ala mhigo right now why would he care

it's more to demoralize the empire and gain allies

since a lot of the ala mhigan resistance... ate shit

i think the thing that's throwing me off is that, like

with ala mhigo there is an established resistance and we have the backing of literally the rest of eorzea

it's less about zenos specifically and more about the empire as a whole

but with doma, like... the doman liberation front is from what i've seen in the games an even weaker spot than the ala mhigan resistance, we don't have the rest of the alliance backing us, so, like

we're sending four guys over and praying???

that might work for diplomatic missions to hraesvelgr and stuff but we are trying to foment revolution in an entire country

seems like we might be overestimating what we're capable of here

i think the payoff on the Far East part of the game doesn’t happen until way later in terms of the connection to ala mhigo

the far east bits are prob my fav bits of the game tho even if plotwise it’s a bit dicey

so what might help also is stormblood's splitting between doma and ala mhigo is actually something inspired by history. The garlean empire was originally inspired by the persian empire invading greece, how the greeks were able to repell the persians was two consecutive victories in two different locations

that's the same mindset that they're going into with this

Also, as you said, the ala mhigans have the eorzean alliance backing them, doma has no one. so, why not send the god slayer over there to give them a fighting chance?

you also get to the coolest area once you go to the Far East so it's ok imo
