My criticism of the new C3 'Explorers' opener:
Corgi
Matt should have had his nails did first.
Qwis
There was a panel on colonialism at Pax Unplugged that I want to watch for some context.
Corgi
Oh, Twitter has totally gone nuts about it. A costumer made some non-agitated but upset comments about it, and then Brian Foster blew up and the basement boys took that as a dogpile signal.
Corgi
What did the panel say?
Qwis
I haven’t watched yet

Twitter is the graveyard of nuance. I'm sorry I looked.
Corgi
Searra
: Sorry. I felt her viewpoint was quite enlightening, but then Brian got mad his friends were being picked on, and dropped the leashes.
Searra
No worries. She closed down the responses so most/all of the trolling was gone before I looked.
Searra
She definitely made a fair point. I'm inclined to think the real issue is that she pointed out the whiteness of the cast, which is true.
Searra
But CR does not have a cast in the usual sense of the word, and pointing it out the way she did implies that people of color were cut out, intentionally or otherwise.
Searra
Or at least is open to that interpretation.
Searra
The rest of the criticism I've seen of the opening boils down to: it's cringey, poorly made, the song is bad, or some combination of the three.
Searra
With undertones of why aren't they dressed like their characters.
Qwis
Any of their openers entertain me the first few times... then I skip over them to get to the show.
Searra
Same. I also usually listen more than I watch.
Corgi
I like the song - the harmony on the chorus is awesome. Habib&Riegel did the new music for the animated, so they'd better get used to the style.
