I lost my sense of smell this morning. A new rapid test came back positive for COVID. I feel like I've been hit by a freaking bus.
Now I need to talk to work to see if they can do anything for me because I can't afford to lose almost 2 weeks of pay. I got it at work, so I'm hoping they'll take that under consideration.
Thank you, all! Not being able to smell anything is a fucking trip. I can still... Kind of... Taste? Like, the tastes are there but they're super muted.
Work is basically making sure I get money without just giving it to me. They're setting up what's essentially a loan for what I'll be out then I'll pay it off in installments from my paycheck. It's not ideal, but as long as I'm not at risk of losing my home, I'm happy.
I was telling Hazel earlier. It's so surreal. Like... I know what certain things should smell like. The memory of that scent is in my head when I smell them. But it's just like breathing nothing. Sometimes I get a tiny whiff, like it's far away.
I found out when I went to make myself tea this morning and realized the box smelled like... Nothing. I kept grabbing things and going up to Hazel asking if they had a scent. The final confirmation was when they put straight up essential oil under my nose and I got nothing.
