any time i accidentally hit the "auto" button on my monitor it changes my clock/phase to the wrong settings and i have to go here and fix them back

the problem is with the video connection somewhere

I can fix it by wiggling the video cord

but this time it's being really unwilling to fix itself

HDMI hooked up to a VGA converter iirc

because I have two monitors and my graphics card doesn't have two HDMI slots because fuck people with two monitors

oh, huh. check and clean out all your connector ends i guess? swap the hdmi-to-hdmi one into the vga converter to see if the problem moves to the other monitor? then you'll at least know where to look for the problem
