You know when you make what you feel was an innocent comment about a thing, and the other person decides that means you need to start an academic debate about the thing?

Like the zone of proximal development is different for each individual. What'll be an issue for one person won't be for the next person. And he didn't seem to think about that nuance? idk
i once said something about how i had to watch a guide to an old friend of mine, and he was very negative and dismissive about that. So i wonder if it was something like that, that sort of attitude where you have to game blind
