[DC] Apparently, DC have confirmed that Jon Kent is bi.
![](https://avatars.plurk.com/9026978-medium2.gif)

Which, you know. He's taken his boyfriend home to meet his parents. And the boyfriend was MUCH more impressed by Lois than Clark. (Boyfriend is a reporter.)

For once, I have NOT read the comments.

It’s so cute!

That reaction reminds me of Starman meeting Wesley Dodds and Dian

I always love it when a character isn't as impressed by the one you think they should be.

(One of my favorite ever scenes was Faiza Hussain saving Sherlock Holmes' life. And him being put out because she was more impressed meeting John Watson than she was meeting him.)

having played a next-gen character dating a Superkid, this is objectively the Correct answer

"He's Superman. She looked at Superman and said 'yeah, I can take him in fight over whose turn it is to do the dishes'."

The best part is Clark will be the first to agree

I like how many queer characters DC is going now but not sure how I feel about their trend of not hooking them up with the same gender character they're usually shipped with? iirc they aged up damian to match jon, unless I'm mistaken, but even if I am they COULD do it
![](https://avatars.plurk.com/10143745-medium81227389.gif)
Throck
It feels like they're just paying lip service by hooking them up with no name or minor characters we'll probaly see very little of long-term, instead of other heroes they'd realistically be on panel with a lot

Everyone should be impressed by Lois, but I am biased.
![](https://avatars.plurk.com/10143745-medium81227389.gif)
Throck
Just so they can back pat over the representation but don't have to actually do a lot of it on panel. Like it's great he brought his BF home! But now that he did, how often are even going to see the guy after this?
![](https://avatars.plurk.com/10143745-medium81227389.gif)
Throck
I do like the joke that lois is more impressive tho
![](https://avatars.plurk.com/8958113-medium27406735.gif)

korel: yeah, characters whose characterization is limited to "love interest" are...generally dubious

Tad Cooper
Sure is a funny way to spell Conner
![](https://avatars.plurk.com/13941730-medium56023476.gif)
FʀɪᴇɴᴅIɴYᴇʟʟᴏᴡ
I mean technically Lois started as a love interest
![](https://avatars.plurk.com/13941730-medium56023476.gif)
FʀɪᴇɴᴅIɴYᴇʟʟᴏᴡ
I don’t want to be skeptics until de see it on page. It’s a new Superman book. No reason Jon shouldn’t have his own cast
![](https://avatars.plurk.com/13941730-medium56023476.gif)
FʀɪᴇɴᴅIɴYᴇʟʟᴏᴡ
People forget that Clark has a cast half the time that isn’t the justice league and it actually makes me sad
![](https://avatars.plurk.com/8958113-medium27406735.gif)

FʀɪᴇɴᴅIɴYᴇʟʟᴏᴡ
: yeah, the character isn't doomed, but it's a rough point to start from in getting the reader to care about them
![](https://avatars.plurk.com/8958113-medium27406735.gif)
kaylin
writers can't just go "here, care about this character", they have to put in the work to make the readers care
![](https://avatars.plurk.com/10143745-medium81227389.gif)
Throck
That's another issue I have with it. Lois and Clark had AGES of juicy build up before they even dated
![](https://avatars.plurk.com/10143745-medium81227389.gif)
Throck
A lack of investment in the love interest building up a romantic relationship over time isn't going to make me care about them.
![](https://avatars.plurk.com/10143745-medium81227389.gif)
Throck
And oftentimes they often already have characters have that investment with someone (or multiple someones)
![](https://avatars.plurk.com/10143745-medium81227389.gif)

Like with bernard and tim bernard just came back out of nowhere

Overall I do think it's a good step forward and something to be excited about I just have a minor nitpick about execution

FʀɪᴇɴᴅIɴYᴇʟʟᴏᴡ
Lois and Clark also started in a different era where some of the ethics around secret identities etc were taken differently. I mean the character himself ain’t that old. I think if it’s well done it can work
![](https://avatars.plurk.com/10143745-medium81227389.gif)
Throck
I mean, I liked the build up of Wonder Girl and Superboy in Young Justice too, I just prefer a bit more build up
![](https://avatars.plurk.com/10143745-medium81227389.gif)
Throck
that said, any situation where jon brings someone home, esp a reporter, the someone being more impressed with lois ought to be a given.
![](https://avatars.plurk.com/10143745-medium81227389.gif)
Throck
they definitely nailed that
![](https://avatars.plurk.com/9417730-medium6.gif)

The nicest thing I can say about Bernard is that it WAS someone who had appeared in enough issues for a few ships to have sailed back in the day
![](https://avatars.plurk.com/10143745-medium81227389.gif)
Throck
Tad Cooper
: That's true. I don't actually mind the character choice, just the setup really. He hadn't been around for a good while.
![](https://avatars.plurk.com/9417730-medium6.gif)
Tad Cooper
Yeah they deliberately dug him up to be a decent choice that let them avoid shipping two heroes
