So... I made some a couple of fairly negative tweets about the SAO crossover with Arise...

...and a short time after, I got a really negative review on a Path story I posted on AO3 that coincidentally mentioned that the “only good stuff you’ve done is your SAO fics.”

It’s weird, but calling my original characters “gross furries” isn’t tempting me to go back to writing for this toxic, entitled fan base.

I’m really starting to think all of this ends with me just hating everything about this series because of its fans.

writing a review to attack someone over an opinion they don't agree with and insulting their original characters reeaaaally isn't the flex they think it is; it's just immature and rude

and honestly I feel you there; I have games I really enjoy and probably have hundreds of hours in but I wouldn't touch the fandom with a ten foot pole so I almost never make any art or fic for it

so many people these days seem to be operating on this idea that if they shit on something you enjoy, they can shame you out of liking it so you'll stop paying attention to it and shift your focus to whatever they think is better...

I think part of the reason it frustrated me (admittedly more than it should have) is that it was literally the only comment on that story.

And I actually got REALLY excited when I saw a comment come in for it.

When you’re always low key wondering if your work will ever have a chance at getting published and finding an audience, even dumb shit like that can sting.

It’s part of the reason I’m reluctant to clear all those stories from my AO3 account.

I still get kudos and that feels good, y’know?
