I'll be honest, I only drink dairy-free or lactose free milk and use lactose free cottage cheese. everything else I either just avoid or use in moderation, so I cannot offer help

It's hard to find their cashewmilk varieties in stores generally too. Coconut milk I think is the one you find most. Which is more flaky than creamy in texture.

Cream cheese can be okay if it's cashew-based and like, IN another recipie but on it's own I've yet to try one that is as satisfying as a brick of Philadelphia

for dairy-free cream cheese and yogurt i like the kite hill stuff; for fancy cheese miyokos stuff is tasty; for sandwich slices cheese i like the violife and chao cheeses

i have not actually tried any shredded ones except the daiya they use for vegan pizzas and the like. it’s kind of weird and sticky when it melts so i don’t recommend it

miyokos is honestly the best fake cheese but it is expensive (the stick fake butter is really good but the tub one is kind of odd); they have more of a soft goat cheese type texture

it really depends, my tiny town is like... way into alternative products and gluten free so we've got lots of options. the bigger towns i've lived in have had peanuts for options despite bigger populations cuz they just weren't onboard
