ugh I'm doing that thing where I overidentify with a fundamentally divisive/disliked fictional character and take criticism of them personally

I hate doing this thing but I don't know how to make it stop

doesn't help that a lot of the "criticism" is always more "character bashing"

oh character bashing sucks in general especially when you can't escape it

i don't evne particularly identify with popularly hated characters but it still fucking sucks to see people make jokes about how much they suck. all the time.

neurodivergent brains wired to assume you are in teh wrong for liking something everyone else doesn't etc etc etc. anyway sits on your brain until it calms down

it bugs me when it's just, character hate, and it bugs me MORE when it's Serious Meta about why a character is bad

because it makes me feel like I Should Not like them how dare I
