this is a great game

it might not be for some, because it's sort of heavy on border politics for the story line

but the gist is that you're a teenager trying to cross the border during the summer of 96, in a nation ruled by an oppressive regime

and it's basically a procedurally generated road trip game

where the people you meet and the situations you run into are random and/or affected by the choices that you make

or what skills you acquire, or how much money you have, etc.

MINOR SPOILERS BUT

i just finished my first "play through" and i got arrested when trying to cross the wall, because i let another teen who was traveling with me escape and i got caught instead

he was offering to help me cross the wall, but i chose to help him go instead

this is after i paid a smuggler 50 dollars to get me to the border, haggled down to 25 to get me to the border crossing, and 10 to bring the other teen we stumbled onto with us

by that time i was broke, and she wanted another 50 for the border guard to let us through

DIDN'T HAVE IT

so instead we ran for it, got shot at, and got myself caught at the wall

there's no spoken or established gender or name to the character you're playing

you sort of just decide who they are while you're playing, how generous or greedy they are, what their politics are, how nice they are, etc.
