oooo give me a sec and I will dig into these (also if you want, I can absolutely fetch audio of me RPing as Allumin for G1 as well as describe his voice otherwise/give a not-me voice example)
G1: When I was first conceptualizing him for our campaign I essentially imagined his voice like Rarity's from MLP:FiM but with the soft airy quality of Fluttershy's voice. He didn't talk very much at first because I was getting used to juggling two characters at the same table but also ICly he was still uncomfortable with the party - He started opening
up more and being more talkative after we watched the Good Omens miniseries and I feel like over time he's ended up with some speaking mannerisms similar to Michael Sheen's Aziraphale. He does have an accent, I try to do a british accent but sometimes I lose it a little bit (esp, since i am just a simple american with no accent coach)
there's a moment in our dnd campaign that's known as "the funnel cake incident" and i would like to get the audio from that sometime to share in the future because it was pretty funny
A4: man I'm gonna make a lot of MLP comparisons aren't I... So, Allumin is kind of similar to Twilight Sparkle pre-ponyville where she's forced on the path to becoming the princess of friendship but not nearly so severe and reclusive a nerd as her friend Moondancer, who ends up shutting others out after being wronged by someone close to her -
Allumin was raised to have good proper manners in such a way as to be able to carry a conversation on whatever, but because he values study over socializing this means that unless he can really connect or be passionate about whatever is being discussed his niceties do just come off as facetious which can lead to him just not being likeable at all
He's the person who would rather stay in and read on a friday night than go out to a party or go over to a friend's house and play games for sure. At a dinner table, he's definitely more inclined to be quiet and observant (and space out if the conversation isn't interesting to him) and only talk if directly engaged
B5: the void the boy is used to civilization and modern technological advancements too much to enjoy hiking through forests and he hates camping/sleeping outdoors, definitely prefers to avoid it if possible. There's an opposite plane to the void that the party goes to in canon that I never got to fully explore his feelings with regarding being there-
-but I feel like despite it being considered "safe" he's still uneasy being there, especially during the times when the party teleports from there to the material plane or vice versa. After recently learning that this place the party has been going to is likely tied to and opposite of the void, given the time to reflect he'd definitely be uncomfortable there
So, if there's ever a plot at fade rift where folks go to the fade while not dreaming, he's gonna be Upset for sure, and I imagine being given the knowledge that when he dreams his consciousness goes to the Fade is also...... not comforting for him.
E3: allumin's family is a series of nerds of nobility so on one hand he wanted to carry on the family torch of being a specialized scholar but he also wanted to do something new that no one else in the family had done yet, & little was known about planar magic in the world so he started studying magic w the intent of figuring it out & makin it accessible
this happens to include a focus on teleportation magic as well in his canon, which exists but is still an arcane science that's been barely explored past the surface and completely inaccessible to those who don't have magic of their own without the use of expensive spell scrolls or outside technology of which there isn't much
he was doing pretty well on this path but unfortunately was derailed from his work & studies when he dabbled in some planar magic that he shouldn't have and ended up in the void for 13 years
he managed to get out using a method that he'd been trying to refine prior to his disappearance but all the notes for how he did it have been lost or ruined and so now he's trying to work through his partial amnesia to figure out what he did and what went wrong, so while there was a bit of a hiccup he's trying to get back on that path again
